The sunken and cracked concrete around your Athens home is both an eyesore and a safety hazard. It is also likely to get worse, but we can fix it for you.
Our experts use PolyLevel, a superior polyurethane foam. Small holes are drilled in the concrete, the foam is injected and the expanding foam lifts the concrete. The majority of contractors you will call use mudjacking instead of foam. Mudjacking is heavier, require larger holes in the concrete and does not last as long as PolyLevel. A crawl space is a very important part of a person’s home. When Athens, AL homeowner Tom G. found a musty smell coming from his crawl space, he knew it could affect his entire home. After using AFS for a previous problem, Tom decided to call on them again to diagnose the problems in his crawl space.
That same week, AFS sent out waterproofing specialist Adam Hampton to the home. After a careful analysis, he concluded that the crawl space was taking in an excessive amount of moisture, causing mold to grow and a musty smell throughout the house. Adam recommended the Cleanspace 20 mil vapor barrier, which is installed along the walls and floor of the crawl space to prevent outside moisture from penetrating. Adam also recommended the installation of a SuperSump sump pump, SaniDry CX dehumidification system and EZ Flow. The combination of these products would relocate all excess water out of the crawl space and far away from the foundation. It will also keep the crawl space moisture-free and incapable of growing mold.
With the recommendations agreed upon, Adam called in primary foreman Alan Jobin and his crew to complete the installation. After a quick installation process, Tom’s crawl space was ready to take on the elements once again. The goal at AFS is to never leave a customer unsatisfied, and now Tom’s crawl space will stay moisture and odor-free in the oncoming years.
Foundation stability is one of the most crucial aspects of a home, so when Athens, AL homeowner Elmer P. found that his foundation was settling he knew he needed to take action! After noticing a commercial for Alabama Foundation Specialists, Elmer decided to call them to check out his foundation.
A few days after making the call, Elmer was met by foundation repair specialist Tim West. After careful evaluation of Elmer’s foundation, Tim confirmed that Elmer’s foundation was settling and that he had the most effective and long lasting solution available. Tim recommended the installation of helical piers along his foundation. Helical piers are specialized poles that are inserted into settled soil to transfer the weight of the home from to the piers. Along with the piers, Tim recommended the installation of Smart Jacks, which are a supplemental support system utilized in the crawl space. Smart Jacks are used wherever an existing column or pier foundation has settled. Primary foreman Jared Bayless and his crew were called in to complete the installation process.
Now, Elmer no longer has to worry about the stability of his home thanks to the professionals at AFS.
One of a homeowner's worst nightmares is the discovery of mold growing in their home. With an unsavory smell and hazardous effects on one’s health, getting rid of mold is a necessity to ensure healthy living. When Athens, AL homeowners Cassius and Susie found an infestation of mold growing in their basement, they immediately begin looking for professionals to eliminate their problem. They started researching companies, and came across Alabama Foundation Specialists whom they contacted for a free inspection and estimate.
Mold remediation specialist Phil Teetor met with the couple at their home shortly after being contacted. After a thorough evaluation of the basement, Phil concluded that the mold infestation was more severe due to a slight leak in the basement. He called in primary foreman Lawrence Richey and his crew to help with the mold remediation and product installation process.
Phil recommended that the entire basement be soda blasted. Soda blasting is a process where sodium bicarbonate is applied against the surface using compressed air. This process, combined with Mold-X, is incredibly effective as it kills the mold and cleans and deodorizes the surface as well. Next, Phil had Lawrence install a comprehensive waterproofing and mold system which included an UltraSump sump pump and a SaniDry CX system. The UltraSump is a sump pump that has a built in battery backup pump to allow for drainage even during a power outage. The SaniDry CX dehumidification system will ensure that the basement stays dry and below the temperature in which mold grows. Other products installed included EZ Flow and SuperSump floor alarms.
After a four day remediation and installation process, the couple’s basement was finally free of mold. Thanks to the professionals at AFS, mold is no longer an issue and they can utilize their basement without worry or concern.
