AFS Supports the Local Boys & Girls Club

The Boys & Girls Clubs of North Alabama (BGCNAL) recently hosted their 2015 Leaders & Legends Annual Dinner where we were proud supporters of the event that celebrates Club alumni who are doing well in their communities.

As proud supporters of our community, giving back to local schools, clubs and organizations is a large part of what AFS is all about. We are pleased to have supported the 2015 Leaders & Legends Annual Dinner by making a charitable donation to the club and event.

Since 2010, BGCNAL’s Leaders & Legends Dinner has celebrated alumni who go above and beyond in their communities, fields, and philanthropy. Previous honorees have included City Administrator Rex Reynolds, former U.S. House of Representative Robert E. “Bud” Cramer, the University of Alabama Football team head coach Nick Saban and others.

Production member, Matthew Harbin and his family, kindly represented AFS Foundation & Waterproofing Specialists at the 2015 Leaders & Legends Annual Dinner held at the Von Braun Civic Center in Huntsville. The dinner, silent auction and V.I.P. reception included a special guest, Shaun Alexander. Alexander is a former Alabama Crimson Tide running back and NFL Seattle Seahawks MVP. As a previous Boys & Girls Club youth, Alexander was recognized for his active community involvement, especially with the youth. In just one year, Alexander once participated in more than 50 community-service events. He continues to serve as a mentor and speaks to many youth across the globe from football camps to church groups.

The evening brought out the communities finest, including Mayor Tommy Battle, Governor Robert Bentley and other local businesses. The occasion is listed as the single largest Boys & Girls Clubs event in the State of Alabama. This occasion speaks to the importance of the Club’s mission to provide youth development services to all youth so they may realize their full potential as productive, responsible and caring citizens.

AFS is happy to support such a great message. A special thanks to the Harbin family for attending on our behalf. We are glad to see that Matthew was able to meet a NFL legend!
