AFS Helps Tennessee Valley Children

Although we are busy inspecting, waterproofing, leveling and repairing homes, we make it a point to help our community as much as we can. With the holiday season ahead of us, we have again paired up with WZYP for their annual Bikes or Bust event.

This event, a holiday tradition held at Ashley Furniture on Huntsville’s South Memorial Parkway, helps collect new bikes and monetary donations for the U.S. Marines Toys for Tots program that is geared toward underprivileged children in the Tennessee Valley. AFS is proud to donate 20 new bikes for 2015!

Each year Huntsville’s local radio personality, Mojo, from 104.3 WZYP camps out on a lift for 104 hours, lifted 40 feet in the air. With wind gust at a high this weekend, Mojo will continue to broadcast on the radio to promote donations for the U.S. Marines Toys for Tots campaign.

Our own Dale Johnson (Marketing Director), Karissa Spears (Digital Marketing Coordinator), Patrick Benigno (Marketing Coordinator) and Michelle Rhode (HR Generalist) put in work by selecting bikes for boys and girls in the community and helping out with local Marines onsite.

This year’s goal is over 2,000 bikes! If Bikes or Bust reaches 2,105 bikes this holiday season, it will bring the 13-year event total to 20,000 bicycles donated at a total value of over $1 MILLION in donations!

If you’d like to donate money or a bike to Bikes or Bust, visit Mojo and the crew at Ashley Furniture on South Memorial Parkway, on the side of HoneyBaked Ham. The deadline for donations will be 6:00 P.M. on Monday, November 23, 2015.

A special thank you to all the women and men at South Memorial Parkway’s Walmart for their help.
