AFS Supports Operation Homefront’s School Supplies Donation Event

Helping those in need is a way of life for our team at AFS Foundation & Waterproofing Specialists. We are committed to lending a helping hand in any way we can, especially when the situation involves children, families, and our military.

When we heard about a special effort to help all three of the above, we knew it would be a perfect fit. Our teams in Huntsville and Birmingham eagerly participated in a school supply donation drive to benefit Operation Homefront.

Operation Homefront, a nationally recognized nonprofit, is dedicated to building strong, stable, and secure military families so they can thrive in the communities they have worked tirelessly to protect. Since 2002, Operation Homefront has provided relief and recurring family support programs and services throughout the year. This helps military families overcome short-term difficulties before they become long-term hardships. Programs include housing, financial assistance, and school-based outreach.

On July 26, we stuffed pencil pouches for children of military families gearing up for the new school year. This effort was part of  Operation Homefront’s annual Back-to-School Brigade®, a nationwide campaign that provides free school supplies, including backpacks, to eligible dependents of service members.

Through this assistance program, the organization helps military children start the new school year equipped for success. The Back-to-School Brigade has been tremendously successful since its inception, with Operation Homefront distributing over 550,000 backpacks to military families across the country.
